Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz gin
- juice of half lime
- 1 oz creme de cassis
- 1 oz watermelon syrup*
- Champagne
- sugar for rimming (optional)

Mix all ingredients except in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass rimmed with sugar (optional). Top with Champagne.

Watermelon Syrup
To make watermelon syrup, mix 4 cups pureed seedless watermelon and 1 cup granulated sugar in a saucepan over medium heat and stir while bringing to a simmer. Adjust the heat to maintain a simmer. Stirring occasionally, simmer until the mixture has reduced by one half in volume and becomes syrupy. Remove from heat to cool and then place in a glass bowl or jar, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Keeps 5 days in the refrigerator. Makes 2 cups. - 1 1/2 oz Absolut mango vodka
- 2 or 3 fresh sage leaves
- 3 cucumber slices
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 1/2 oz Cointreau
- Dash peach bitters

DIY Yummie: Baked Banana

With Rum-Spiked Crème Fraîche
Wrapped in their skins with butter and brown sugar, bananas can be placed over dying coals to be ready for dessert when you are.

Ingredients
10 large firm bananas
1/4 pound unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup crème fraîche
2 tablespoons dark rum

Instructions

1. With a sharp knife, slit the peel open on each banana. Carefully remove peel, reserving it.

2. Roll the bananas in the melted butter and then in the brown sugar. Return each banana to its peel.

3. Using lengths of kitchen string that have been soaked in water, tie each banana. Set aside.

4. In a small bowl, blend the crème fraîche with the rum. Set aside.

5. Grill the bananas over low coals, turning frequently, for 15 minutes, or until heated through.

6. Remove the strings and peels from the bananas and serve them on individual dessert plates with some of the crème fraîche on the side.

3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce fresh orange juice
1/2 ounce grape juice

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth consistency.

2. Pour over cubes in a highball glass.

3. Garnish with candy or fresh berries.

8 ripe pears, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
8 green apples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
2 ripe pineapples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
1 1/2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled

Instructions

Pass the pear, apples and pineapple chunks and the ginger through a juicer according to manufacturer’s instructions. Chill.

Happy Hour: Ginger Beer (non-alcoholic)

Ingredients
2 pounds plus 1/4 cup sugar
1 pound fresh ginger, shredded
1 pack compressed yeast
1 cup black raisins
2 lemons, juiced
60-72 white raisins

Instructions

1. In a large pot soak the sugar and ginger in 3 quarts water overnight. In the morning, bring the liquid to a boil and allow to simmer for 1 hour. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

2. Pour the liquid into a clean pail and add enough water to total 2 gallons of liquid. Add the yeast and black raisins. Cover the pail and allow to stand airtight overnight.

3. In the morning, through a strainer, add the juice of 2 lemons. Cover and set aside for 6 days. Do not stir.

4. Siphon and strain all but a few inches of the ginger beer into a clean pail. Discard the remaining liquid, ginger, and raisins.

5. Bring to a boil 1/4 cup sugar with 2 cups water. Add to the ginger beer and stir.

6. Pour the ginger beer into 10 to 12 750-ml bottles leaving 1 inch of air space at the top of each bottle. To each bottle, add 6 white raisins and cork tightly. When the raisins rise to the top, the ginger beer is ready to be served.

Note: Be careful, the corks may pop for the first few days while waiting for the raisins to rise. Place a towel on the cork when opening bottle. This is a non-alcoholic beverage.

In the mid to late 1990s, the Cosmopolitan became the drink of choice among hip, savvy urbanites—or anyone who aspired to that status. Here’s a variation on the Cosmo with Courvoisier instead of the usual vodka—call it a Courvoisierpolitan, or CV Cosmo, for short.

Ingredients
4 ounces Courvoisier
4 ounces Triple Sec
4 ounces cranberry juice
6 ounces lime juice
Slices of orange peel, for garnish

Instructions
1. Chill 6 martini glasses.

2. Pour all the liquid ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into the glasses. Garnish each with a slice of orange peel.

Ingredients
Peel of an orange
Chocolate shavings from the best quality chocolate bar
Chili pepper flakes
1 ounce best quality, premium Vodka or Tequila
1/2 ounce Kahlua especial (70 proof)
1/2 ounce Tia Maria
1 ounce cold espresso

Instructions

1. Rim the tube/shot glass with the peel of an orange rind. Dip the rim of the glass in chocolate shavings and chili pepper flakes.

2. Place the vodka or tequila, Kahlua, Tia Maria and espresso in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into test tubes or shot glasses.

2. Pour Grenadine into bottom of glass, followed by Lemoncello and let settle. Whip egg whites and dash of confectioner’s sugar in blender.

8 ounces high-quality vodka
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
3 tablespoons superfine sugar, plus more to taste
1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, tightly packed

Instructions
Combine all the ingredients in a blender full of ice cubes and blend until the contents achieve a uniform frozen consistency. Add more sugar periodically as needed, or until the mixture is just right. Serve in champagne flutes.

1/4 large seedless watermelon
12 ounces vodka
Juice of 1 lime
Splash of Simple Syrup (see below)
6 watermelon balls, scooped out with a melon baller, for garnish
1 lime, thinly sliced, for garnish

1. Chill 6 martini glasses (see below).

2. Pulse the watermelon in a blender to create a purée (you should have about 1 1/2 cups). Pour the vodka, lime juice, and Simple Syrup into a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into the chilled glasses. Garnish with a watermelon ball on the rim of the glass and float a slice of lime in the center.

Simple Syrup: This cocktail sweetener can be made of varying thickness; thin is 3 parts water to 1 part sugar, medium is 2:1, and thick is 1:1. Simply bring the sugar and water to a boil, then remove from the heat immediately and set aside to cool. Store in a jar in the refrigerator for as long as you like.

Photographer's Snippet: Bennie & Carla are both originally from Montagu. Bennie is a farmer and Carla, a chef. They’ve know each other for 14 years and decided to have a 1920 Gatsby theme for their wedding. The guests dressed up accordingly, which made for some awesome photos :) I absolutely LOVED the details that Carla used. There were typewriters (which I was crazy about!) where guests could type the couple personal messages, old suitcases, wooden carved hearts, a beautiful vintage Chevy as well as Croquet, Bowls and Chess games that the guests got to enjoy. As the sun set, out came a huge table filled with many jars of candy, the kind you ate when you were young :), like marshmellow fish, chomps, candy necklaces, and sweetie pies.

PS. I don’t usually use vintage editing, but I fell in love with the nostalgic character it gave my images from this wedding :)

Brie and Josh's tent was absolutely breathtaking- spectacular!!! Thanks to Brie's good taste and the fabulous talents of John Orton, Stoneblossom, and Morin's. What a team, what a dreamy palette of autumn gorgeousness. I love everything about it! After an hour of flitting around in the beautiful light we joined the rest of the wedding for the evening's festivities. Aaah, fall! Finally! I love you autumn... thanks for being so pretty for Brie and Josh's wedding day. Actually it wasn't just pretty, it was perfect. Brie was a vision in her lovely gown and amazing bubble veil, so fun! As promised, we made it to Rosecliff... and we managed to get there a little ahead of everyone else so we could snap around the grounds. Highlights of the evening for me? Certainly the ballroom all decked out in pinks and grey. Ooooh... the candy bar too! I spied that while I was outside taking some blue light photos. I saw the candy bar through the window and ran right in to make sure I could get some candy ... I mean photos.... while no one was looking. Best reception moment though? Definitely Tori's dad's toast. He gave her a stuffed puppy (a toy she had carried everywhere as a little girl) I think he must have been saving it for a long while to bust out someday at her wedding. We all cried!

How do we love Tori?... let us count the ways.

Well, first of all she has a big personality so it only makes sense she should have a big dress, lots of fabric, big train...little teenie bride.
Let me paint a picture for the second reason we love Tori...
Trish and I pulled up to her parent's house and spied across the street a beautiful little wooded grassy area that would be perfect for a portrait of Tori. Only two problems with this idea: a really big white dress and the fact that it had just rained (well was actually still kind of raining) and the spot in question was soggy and also littered with rotting pears. Hmmm...
So Trish asked, "Tori, what are the chances we could get you to go outside and let us photograph you in that area with the soggy grass and rotting pears?"
To which Tori replied...
"The chances are really good! Where do you want me?"
We heart Tori.

Which brings me to Joe...
Why do we love Joe? Well, because he worked the romance BIG TIME in the photos we took at the beach. It's no easy task putting up with all of the snappers posing ideas while risking ridicule from your groomsmen, but Joe handled it like a pro and even had a few ideas of his own.
We heart Joe.

Well, the love fest continues with more snapping around Rosecliff ... so stay tuned!

Now that we've gotten the nuptials out of the way, it's time to get our photo on... We made our way around Glen Manor and even managed to find some time to stop and enjoy the view and do a little snuggling on the bridge.

Photo time is all too short though and pretty soon it was time to head in for the reception. I think this might be the part Nikki was looking forward to the most. She loves to dance! The proof is in the series of wacky dancing pix at the bottom of this post. We rounded out the night nicely with some blue light specials and voila! it was a wrap...

Nikki is the kind of girl who is the life of the party, you can hear her laughing from the other side of the room and you can't help but smile to yourself. John is a big fan of laughter and happiness, which Nikki exudes, so a match was made! What a great match it is! Nikki and John prepared there own personal wedding vows secretly from one another and when they read them during the ceremony they words were virtually the same. Common threads like laughing, cherishing, traveling were woven through both.

My favorite line had to be from Nikki though who said "I love you and I would follow you anywhere." She said it with such conviction that you just know she means ANYWHERE, good or bad... forever. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

What do you say when the number one request of the bride and groom is a walk over to Dunkin Donuts after the wedding party pictures are over? You say "Peace, Linden Place! We're going to get an iced coffee!" Amanda and Jeremy abstained from two of their very favorite things in the world in order to look great for their wedding day. #1 Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee for whiter teeth #2 Donuts for skinny-ness. I happen to love Dunkin' Donuts so I don't know how they stayed away so long. And what's sweeter than an iced coffee? A surprise serenade from Jeremy in the middle of the reception! Not to mention cupcakes and candy! This is one sugar filled blog post!

When I met Amanda and Jeremy I thought they were two of the nicest people! They just struck me as being genuinely sweet. So I wasn't surprised when I saw the touching things Amanda had made for her parents on her wedding day (Her Dad cried when he got his hanky!). Being a Mommy myself I even got emotional! I hope my kids grow up to be as thoughtful as these guys. One thing that did surprise me was Amanda's dress! Va Va Va Voom! I didn't except our little sweetie pie to look so sexy! Hello! Jeremy, you looked pretty handsome yourself!

Looking at these pictures you just can't help but see how in love these two are and what nice people they are. And let's not forget the sexiness! (Amanda, I know I'm totally embarassing you right now, but deal with it! You looked amazing!)

Being around Josh and Brie makes you pause and enjoy your surroundings. Usually I talk a mile a minute and snap! like mad... Brie and Josh have a really calming presence and being around them you can't help but become a little more still and reflective. I like it.

PS. If Josh and Brie don't order that top photo as a canvas for their new house I don't know what I'll do... right?! (subtle hint)

Want to look like you are really in love in your wedding photos?

Follow Tori and Joe's lead... does it get much more romantical? Nope.

Tori was a little shall we say "diligent" leading up to the wedding. This is a girl who likes to organize, likes to lead, and knows what she wants! However, you'd be hard pressed to find a bride who was more laid back or enjoyed herself more on her wedding day then Tori.

I think Tori is full of surprises and she's going to keep things interesting for Joe for many years to come! Here's to passion and a flawless wedding, cheers!

Deborah and Clarel ...Wedding Weekend Festivities, Tennis Hall of Fame and The Arabella

Lucky me! I spent the day after Clarel and Deborah's wedding with the gang, who ended up feeling like old friends by the end of the night. First, I met up with them at the Tennis Hall of Fame for the "Nuptial Cup." A fitting activity considering Deborah and Clarel found each other through their love of tennis. What a beautiful day to be at the Tennis Hall of Fame, which a gorgeous place! C + D were able to play for ten minutes on the grass court in the horse shoe piazza, such a treat!

As if that wasn't enough fun, we finished off the day with a sunset sail on the Arabella with family and friends. A perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

Deborah and Clarel at Blithewold ... Part One

I have coined a new phrase to describe Deborah and Clarel, "Charis-magnets". It's hard to describe these two, but I think charismagnets comes pretty close. You are drawn to them, it just makes you feel good being around them. It's like a nice big warm hug... It was rough going on Monday morning after spending the weekend with these two, the withdrawl was brutal! But, I am just grateful for my little time in the glow of the sunny place that was Clarel and Deborah's wedding. I'm sure all the wedding guests felt the same as they seemed to be basking in the charismagnet rays too.

Deborah met Clarel while Deborah was fundraising for WGBH. They fell in love through their mutual love of tennis and soon discovered they were a perfect fit in life and perfect partners on the dance floor as well as the tennis court. Seriously, every girl at the wedding wanted to be Deborah floating around the dance floor in her dreamy twirly dress with her equally dreamy husband.

Jodi and Tim, it was love at first sight at Narragansett Beach when they were in their early teens. Stolen glances and stolen Twix bars from the concession stand where Tim worked eventually won Jodi's heart. It's only fitting that we should return to the scene of the crime (literally) or at least that's what we planned. Unfortunately, hurricane Earl had other ideas. We scrapped our beach photo-plan but Earl could not keep us down... we ended up with fun umbrellas which we barely needed and a smile from Jodi that lights up every room. Who needs sunshine with her around anyway?! It's true... see for yourself!

I am in love with both of these photos and also a little in love with Nikki and John (but don't tell them because that's creepy and a little stalker-ish).

Anyway... I am in love with the photos because they were taken at virtually the same exact time... one by me and one by Melissa. (Not telling who took which). I think it's so fantastic that Melissa and I had such different perspectives on the same moment yet both photos are so fabulous in their own way...

I am in love with Nikki and John because they are so in love with each other, and well, love is contagious.

Alison + Alex at Blithewold Mansion, Part One

Alex and Alison, or "Alixon" as their friends refer to them are a match made in heaven. Just being around these two makes you feel warm and fuzzy.

A snap! first below... I was unable to decide on a favorite ring photo, so I had to include all three photos. The result of the photographical stylings of Trish, they are all beautiful in their own way... a big part of what we do here at snap! is editing and weeding through photos, but with these I was at a loss...

Diamonds really are a girl's BFF.

Alison carried this locket with a photo of her mom, so sweet. This veil was also her mothers. I am sure Alison's mom would be so impressed with what a warm, caring and beautiful woman Alison is.

The make up artist attached to the brush... attached to the hand...

is none other than our friend Ms. Robin Mcaloon. Look at that creamy skin she gets to work with! A makeup artists dream I bet!

Next we headed over to the beach. Alison had been on a scouting mission and found this awesome walkway leading to second beach. In all my many years of going to second beach I had never discovered this walkway. Alison could be a professional photo location scouter!

She wanted wispy grass/ beachy kind of feel- I think we got it!

Nothing makes me happier than a bride who adds a little pizazz to the traditional white bridal attire! What else makes me happy? Kate Spade! Sarah is two for two here! Green shoes and an awesome little clutch...

Finishing touches before the dress. Sarah looks beautiful!

While I was with the ladies Sarah was over at Harkness Memorial State Park in CT with the guys! Looks like they were having a good time!

I did Sarah and Zack's engagement shoot over a year ago. Zack is in the Coast Guard. Two days after our shoot he was on active duty. He was gone for almost a year! Thankfully he came back to us unharmed!

A big thank you to Zack for serving our country and being so brave...

The big reveal!! Sarah told me that this is the moment she was looking forward to the most. Looks like Zack is pretty excited too!

Sarah looks almost giddy in this one! Love it!

Romantical! Harkness is one of my favorite venues! It's always a treat to go there.

I don't think that this is a situation that happens too often. Sarah is almost a foot shorter than Zack! She should commission someone to design her a fashionable step ladder to carry around for impromptu kisses. This step was perfect for the height difference.

The complete wedding party! Those kids are all of Sarah and Zack's nieces and nephews. I love a wedding with lots of kids! It always add a little excitement to the day. You never know what they are going to do!
